Have you Started your Spring Cleaning Yet?

Spring is finally here, and with it comes a yearly spring cleaning. No worries though. We have put together the ultimate spring cleaning guide for your home’s exterior.

Let’s start with the obvious: remove any debris from your yard. After winter, you can be left with large tree branches, weeds, dead plants and built up thatch. Gather up this obvious debris, and you’ll have already caught the spring cleaning bug.

Next step will most likely be to reseed your lawn. You may have some dead patches from the winter chill. Now is the perfect time to aerate your lawn and reseed. Go a step further and fertilize to maintain optimum levels of potassium, nitrogen and phosphorous.

Clean your windows. To give your windows a thorough cleaning, first open them up and vacuum out any dead bugs, dirt and cobwebs from the inside. Then, remove your window screens, and hose them off. Now, it’s time to get that glass squeaky clean.

Inspect your gutters. No one wants to clean the gutters in the middle of winter. So, don’t feel bad if they’ve accumulated some gunk. Spring is the perfect time to remove that thawed out accumulation. While you’re cleaning, inspect for damage as well.

Examine your outdoor structures. The cold, harsh winter weather can do some damage to your outdoor structures. Namely, your fence, deck, shutters and roof. Check for damaged or weak spots left from the winter cold. They may need to be repaired or replaced.

Don’t get too excited about this one, but the next step would be pressure washing. TAZ offers pressure washing services as well. It’s perfect for removing caked on dirt, mold and mildew. It is also the perfect way to prep for our next step: painting.

A fresh coat of paint can do wonders. And while you’re knee deep into spring cleaning, it’s an inexpensive and easy way to revitalize the exterior of your home, while also protecting it from the elements.

Now that you’re yard is looking lush and green, your surfaces replenished and that fresh coat of paint has dried, it’s time to have a party and invite all of your friends. Last step before the festivities is to dust off that patio furniture and scrape that grill. That first burger and hot dog after intensive spring cleaning will feel oh so satisfying.
